This is the 1980 album by the Brass Ensemble led by German trumpeter Michael Sell, who, along with Dieter Scherf and Wolfgang Schlick, was a member of the Free Jazz Group Wiesbaden and also collaborated with the Art Ensemble of Chicago as part of the European Free Jazz Orchestra. The ensemble consists of 11 free jazz musicians active in Europe, including Frederic Rabold (trumpet, flugelhorn), Theo Jorgensmann (clarinet), Bernd Konrad (bass clarinet, soprano saxophone, baritone saxophone), Paul Rutherhord (trombone), and others. The album features five tracks with a captivating approach of deconstructing and reconstructing the atmosphere of old jazz. The ensemble's ability to evoke the ambiance of old jazz while taking it apart and reconstructing it makes for a compelling listening experience. Similar to the 1980 release "Im Walde," this album stands as a counterpart to the Chicago AACM, representing a significant work in European avant-garde jazz.
