Mieko Shimizu is a London-based artist who made her debut in 1988 with the album Totem, and has collaborated with David Cunningham of the Flying Lizards and Robert Lippok of To Rococo Riot, and she has released album as Apache 61 from Haruomi Hosono's Daisyworld discs label, her creative practice straddling pop and avant-garde. This is the first vinyl reissue of the album released on CD in 1990. Mieko has been joined with her older brother Yasuaki Shimizu's album "Dementos" It was also a masterpiece of sound production and wordplay. This album is also similar taste of sound production and sense of wordplay are in the same vein.

Recorded in London in 1990 at the height of the world music movement, there is something very unique about this album. It is the relationship between the sound of the words and the melody, and the play on words that is unique to the Japanese language. With a colourful, multicultural sound, words becomes a stateless sound and music that transcends time and borders to resonate today.
