A leader date from 1970 by the formidable Czech jazz bassist Miroslav Vitous, who would later go on to join Weather Report. A quintet session featuring an incredible lineup of Joe Henderson on tenor sax, John McLaughlin on guitar, Herbie Hancock on piano, and Jack DeJohnette on drums. Essential stuff, packed with that new current running through so much of the post-electric Miles universe. Best cut for us is A1, a killer take on an Eddie Harris classic, driven by the ultra-aggressive rhythm section of Vitous and DeJohnette, with McLaughlin’s psychedelic guitar and Hancock’s dark, heavy piano taking things to another level. 1976 Japanese reissue that was used original metal mother.
