The first leader album by Danish bassist Niels Ryde, who has been active since the mid-1980s and has played in the Mikael Zacho Trio and Jon Hemmersam's group, was released in 1991. The album features young musicians who were emerging in the Danish jazz scene at the time. The album sublimates swing, bebop, modal jazz, and free jazz with a new sensibility, boldly introducing synthesizers, samplers, and programming, while presenting spirited crossover jazz throughout. It also has an ethnic flavor to it. You can feel the unique groove of this era.
