The 1986 album by Nirmal Udhas, a vocalist specializing in the ghazal tradition, a form of structured lyrical poetry with themes of love that originated in the literary traditions spanning from the Middle East to Asia. In addition to his original compositions, Udhas sings songs by Zahid Hussain, who collaborated with sarangi player Ustad Hamid Hussain in the mid-1970s. This album provides a unique experience of mellowness and glamour in Udhas's voice, distinct from the renowned ghazal king and queen, Jagjit Singh and Chitra Singh. Despite cultural and stylistic differences, there's a certain affinity between ghazal and Japanese popular songs.
