A box set released in 1972 that records the daily rituals and environmental sounds of the monks at Kuonji Temple, the head temple of Nichiren Buddhism, located in Minobu, Minamikoma District, Yamanashi Prefecture. This temple was founded by Saint Nichiren, the founder of Nichiren Buddhism, who entered the mountain in 1274. The project was planned by Yamanashi Broadcasting and produced by Century Music Industries. This valuable work allows listeners to experience the soundscape of Minobu in spring across two vinyls, including the morning natural sounds of birds and crows, the sutras of memorial services, the nighttime temple grounds, Setsubun and Higan ceremonies, and the sound of the temple bell. Primitive drum sounds and Gagaku (ancient Japanese court music) can also be heard. The accompanying thick booklet includes contributions from composer Toshiro Mayuzumi and trumpeter Terumasa Hino.
