This album was released in 1978 as part of the "World Folk Music Series," a series of field recordings by Fumio Koizumi, a leading researcher of world ethnic music in Japan. It features music from Taiwan, an island in the south of Japan's neighboring country. The album features not only music from mainland China, but also music from Buddhist and Taoist ceremonies and memorial services, azan (a prayer in Islamic temples), and folk songs of the Cantonese people. All the songs are very interesting, but the "Warabeuta" of A1 is very close to that of Japan, and at the same time, I feel that it has something in common with the play music of pygmy children in Africa.
