This is the 1988 album by the American saxophonist Ornette Coleman, who, needless to say, is regarded as a father of free jazz and has had a profound influence on numerous musicians, including Don Cherry. The album features his son, Denardo Coleman, along with Calvin Weston, Al MacDowell, Chris Walker, Bern Nix, Charlie Ellerbe, and Jerry Garcia. Incorporating synthesizers, drums, and drum machines extensively, the album ambitiously attempts to blend beat-making reminiscent of Zulu rhythms from South Africa and Lingala pop from West African countries with free jazz. It is a highly intriguing work. The US pressing on the Carrollton label adopts DMM cutting.
