This is the second album released by the first iteration of the Pat Metheny Group, centered around Pat Metheny, one of the world's foremost guitarists, released on ECM in 1979. The members are Lyle Mays (keys), Mark Egan (b), and Dan Gottlieb (ds). It was recorded in the same year at Longview Farm in Missouri, said to be the most beautiful farm in the world, with Pat Metheny himself producing and Manfred Eicher serving as executive producer. At this stage, his true forte, the guitar synthesizer, had not yet been introduced, and he played 6-string/12-string guitars, with Lyle Mays' Oberheim and autoharp providing the electronic sounds. The unique sound of the Pat Metheny Group, where a delicate and beautiful world of sound spreads throughout, as if sparkling sunlight is pouring down, can be enjoyed on this album as well.
