This is Pat Metheny's second album released on ECM in 1977 after leaving the Gary Burton Group. The lineup was a dream come true, featuring Metheny's close friend Lyle Mays and drummer Dan Gottlieb, who would later join the Pat Metheny Group, as well as the superb German bassist Eberhard Weber. Metheny's soft touch and glossy 15-string harp guitar, Lyle Mays' flowing piano, and Eberhard Weber's bouncing bass melodies are too beautiful. The beautiful sound of B3 overflows with a spirituality shared with Egberto Gismonti, and it is also an ambient/ Balearic track that is ahead of its time, so to speak. It is also a precursor of the sound that will flourish in the Pat Metheny Group. All in all, highly recommended.
