American harpist Patrick Ball began performing after being deeply inspired by the traditional folk songs he encountered in the Appalachian region of the eastern United States and in western Scotland. This album, released in 1984, features Ball performing the Celtic harp, an instrument long associated with the traditional music of the Celts, the ancient indigenous peoples of Europe. The repertoire centers on works by the Irish composer Turlough O’Carolan, who lived from the 1670s to the 1730s. The delicate tones of the Celtic harp overlap in gentle layers, its beautiful melodies and resonance softly dissolving into the surrounding space. This is the Japanese pressing released as part of CBS/Sony’s Music For Your Lifestyle series.
