This is a collaboration album released in 1975 between Yuji Takahashi, a contemporary musician/composer/pianist who studied music theory under Iannis Xenakis and is active internationally alongside Toshi Ichiyanagi and Toru Takemitsu, and Paul Zukofsky, an American violinist whose talent has also blossomed as a conductor. Based on the concept of "A New World of the Violin," the album features music by Takemitsu Toru, Hayashi Hikaru, John Cage, and Takahashi himself. The album features Takemitsu's A1 "Hika," whose unstable melody evokes a scene of a dusky afternoon with light rain, Takahashi's A2, which evokes a unique minimalism with its slow and sudden movements, and Cage's B2 "6 Melodies," which reveals delicate melodies in its exquisite intervals, and other pieces. The entire piece is a cutting-edge duo performance by violin and piano.
