A 1975 album and the first leader date by American drummer and percussionist Peter Magadini, who also appeared on recordings by Joe Sealy, Tim Weisberg, Fred Stone, and others. The quartet features George Duke (p, synth), Don Menza (ts, ss, fl), and Dave Young (b). As the title suggests, the album ranges from aggressive pieces built around complex polyrhythms to high-speed Brazilian fusion and bolero jazz highlighted by Menza’s floating flute. The performances are superb throughout. Magadini’s drumming is impressive in its own right, but George Duke’s presence is especially overwhelming, with his extensive use of Fender Rhodes, Mini Moog, and ARP String Ensemble.
