American composer/pianist Peter Scherer and producer/guitarist Arto Lindsay, who worked together in the 1980s as members of Ambitious Lovers, teamed up once again for this masterpiece album, released in 1990 from the Belgian label Crammed Discs' 'Made to Measure' series, which has produced numerous experimental music works across genres, including those by Hector Zazou, Minimal Compact, and Peter Principle. The album features contributions from Jill Jaffe, Cyro Baptista, and even Nana Vasconcelos. The title track on side A is stage music created for a performance by the Frankfurt Ballet in Germany. It opens with a thunderous heavy, low percussion beat and an introduction featuring Arto Lindsay’s signature sharp-edged distortion guitar, followed by a 26-minute-long experimental music piece where modern classical elements and industrial sounds intersect freely. Side B contains music composed for The Vienna Festival held in Austria in 1986, showcasing a range from drone ambient mixed with majestic string ensembles to industrial dance tracks with hammer-like, electrifyingly sharp sounds. The extraordinary sensibilities of both artists are on full display in this avant-garde sound world.
