In 1953, American jazz singer Pinky Winters began performing at local clubs in Los Angeles, where her talent was quickly recognized. In 1954, she released her debut album on Vantage Records, led by Bob Andrews. This album showcases her refreshing vocal style, with a seasoned tone that elegantly delivers a selection of American standards from the 1930s, including the opening track—a classic standard that was originally composed as the theme song for the 1935 musical Jumbo. Winters interprets ballads, blues, and swinging jazz numbers with a smoothness and clarity that fully captures her distinctive voice. This high-quality release was reissued in Japan in 1992 as part of the Norma "Bob Andrews Collection" series.
