This is a duo album released in 1979 by Ryu Noguchi, a flutist known for his work with Hiroshi Wakasugi and Saburo Ueki in "Chamber Music '70," who has also released excellent works on ALM Records, and Shin Miyashita, a 30-string koto player and son of Shuretsu Miyashita, a contemporary koto composer whose radical works transcend the framework of the classical repertoire. It features arrangements by Akira Matsudaira of classical works by J.S. Bach, impressionist works by Debussy and Ravel, Japanese and English folk songs, and original compositions. Miyashita composed A5 "Koshitenraku Imasyo Variation," an improvisation based on a fragment of Koshitenraku, one of the pieces of Gagaku (ancient Japanese court music)
