Released in 1987, this album is by Action Quartet, led by Italian saxophonist Sandro Cerino, who also appeared on Giovanni Venosta’s 1985 masterpiece Olympic Signals, featured in the guidebook Obscure Sound, as well as Venosta and Roberto Musci’s 1987 hidden-gem masterpiece Water Messages on Desert Sand. The album was produced as part of the Italian project for the international design congress “DESIGN ’87,” held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in 1987. Musically, it presents an intriguing blend of chamber music approaches and jazz idioms. Especially highly recommended are A2, a superb ambient jazz piece where saxophone and piano slowly sketch out an inner landscape, and B3, where soprano saxophone and electric piano melodies glide over a light Brazilian beat.

A2: Nostalgia di un vecchino libro
B2: Dolce storia di Elisa
