This is a leader album released in 1975 by Italian trumpeter/flugelhorn player Sergio Fanni, who has been active since the 1950s and played in the groups of Giorgio Gaslini and Giorgio Buratti in the 1960s. The quintet is Leandro Prete (ts), Sante Palumbo (p), Carlo Milano (b), Giancarlo Pillot (ds), and Roberto Haliffi (per). This work introduces electric piano and electric bass, and develops a crossover style that takes a step forward from hard bop. A1 has a very distinctive floating and effectual sound, and B3, a moody number with mystically shaking electric piano and flugelhorn, is especially outstanding.
