This is a 1971 album by Silvio Gualda, a French percussionist who has been active since the early 70s. The album features "14 Station" by Marius Constant, a French composer who emerged in the early 50's and formed Ensemble Ars Nova in the 60's, and "Zyklus" by Karlheinz Stockhauzen in 1959. The A-side is based on the theme of the "14 Stations” of the Way of Christ's Cross", with 14 parts depicting a scene from the sentence of death to the burial, with over 100 percussion instruments playing a swell of sound. The B-side "Zyklus" is a circular/cyclic movement with 30 percussion instruments of metal, wood and leather. In each case, the fine overtones of the percussion instruments are the focus of attention.
