Italian pianist Stefano Battaglia, who has been an active force on the Italian jazz scene since his debut in the mid-1980s and appeared on Tiziana Ghiglioni’s celebrated album Yet Time, presents this 1988 trio recording with Paolino Dalla Porta (bass) and Manhu Roche (drums). A superb work that highlights Battaglia’s refined touch and flowing lyricism at the piano, the album captures the emergence of a major new voice in Italian contemporary jazz. An early document of a talent who would go on to shape the next generation of the scene. Highly recommended.
