This was featured in both the first edition and the revised edition of the guidebook "obscure sound." Stephen Montague, an American composer who has been active in avant-garde fields such as sound sculpture and electroacoustics, and who has contributed to recordings for many European radio networks as a pianist, released this album in 1984, which is his only analog work. While the piano piece on side B is excellent, the over-24-minute masterpiece on side A, composed of concrete sounds from instruments like folk flute, log drum, wind chimes, sleigh bells, and computer-generated sound, is truly superb. The percussive sounds like a flowing river, the meditative flute melody, and the ethereal pad sounds create a fantastical landscape. It's an artistic world that blends the cutting-edge ethnic music group Between with Terry Riley's minimalism. Highly, highly recommended.
