This is a 1975 album by the American pianist Steve Kuhn, who, after graduating from Harvard University, studied innovative jazz during his time at the Lenox School of Music, where he had interactions with musicians like Ornette Coleman and Don Cherry. He later made a name for himself in groups led by Kenny Dorham and John Coltrane. Recorded in a New York studio in 1974 with a quartet featuring Steve Swallow (el-b), Jack DeJohnette (ds), and Sue Evans (per), Kuhn showcased not only acoustic piano but also extensively used electric piano on this album. It can be seen as a euphoric contemporary jazz that could be considered a response to Chick Corea's masterpiece "Return To Forever," spanning from contemporary jazz to crossover fusion. The seamless combination of Kuhn's soaring and graceful piano playing with the mellowness of the electric piano creates a superb synergy. Highly recommended. We have received the original German pressing with a gatefold insert. The outer sleeve's coating is completely peeled off.
