Steven Brown, in addition to his work as a member of Tuxedomoon, his collaborations with Benjamin Lew on Crammed Discs, and on Sub Rosa and Les Disques de Crepuscle, showcase his talents in a wide range of new wave and experimental music. This album was released in 1984, titled Music for Solo Piano and featuring artwork by the prestigious German classical label Deutsche Grammophon, is a collection of beautiful piano music with an ambient feel reminiscent like Erik Sati's music, and piano clarinet and a duo with Blaine L. Reininger's violin, a close friend from the Tuxedomoon days, and an air of serenity throughout, as well as deeply reverbed drone music and avant-attaemps on prepared piano. A deep album with deep content. It can be likened to Haruomi Hosono's Sightseeing Music series or Yasuaki Shimizu's contemporary works.
