An album released in 1988 by Japanese improvisational percussionist Takashi Kazamaki, who started his career performing street music and at venues like Strange Fruits in Tsurumaki Onsen. His encounter with Takehisa Kosugi led him to New York, where he engaged in a wide range of performances. Side A features a percussion duo with Samm Bennett, consisting of 12 distinct segments. Side B showcases duets with Zeena Parkins on acoustic harp and accordion. Both sides present highly impulsive and creative free improvisation, offering a captivating listening experience. The album reflects Kazamaki’s unique groove, rooted in Okinawan folk songs and traditional music from various Asian countries, while also featuring many abstract moments. Highly recommended.
