An album released in 1963 by American trumpeter Ted Curson, who was active as a member of groups led by Cecil Taylor and Charles Mingus, on the Prestige label. It features a one-horn quartet with Gildo Mahones (piano), George Tucker (bass), and Roy Haynes (drums), with Montego Joe (percussion) joining as a quintet on four tracks. The album opens with the title track A1, filled with a Latin feeling, followed by a relaxed slow number A2 that exudes a New Orleans/blues atmosphere. B1 is notable for the combination of muted trumpet and exotic rhythm section, where Montego Joe's congas double the ensemble's charm. This is an excellent album with outstanding performances. This is the USreissue in 1990 by Fantasy's Original Jazz Classics series.
