The Fourth Way was formed by pianist Mike Nock, who has recorded many masterpieces from bop to contemporary to fusion, including "Ondas" (released on ECM in 1982); violinist Michael White, who has worked with Sun Ra and Pharoah Sanders; drummer Eddie Marshall, who has performed on numerous sessions; and bassist Ron McClure. This is the first album released in 1969. From groovy tracks with funky rhythm section backed by gently dancing electric piano and violin, to slower pieces with Nock's elegant piano playing, this is a masterpiece of crossover jazz-rock with a hint of the West Coast psychedelic movement.
