This is a live recording of the duo album “Kizashi” released in 1980 by Yosuke Yamashita, a free jazz pianist with many anecdotes such as performing inside the barricades of Waseda University during the student movement against politics, and Masahiko Togashi, a drummer/percussionist who created his own unique technique and continued to perform despite being paralyzed by a spinal cord injury. This is a live recording held at Tokyo Yakult Hall in December of the same year. The songs on this album are completely different from those on the studio album “Kizashi”. It's not surprising, since the entire album is almost entirely improvised. The tense interplay that unfolds in a slow and steady manner is unique. The sound is so well grained and pleasant that it is hard to believe it is a live recording. Masahiko Togashi's percussion is amazing in all his works.
