This is the first volume of "Film Music by Toru Takemitsu" a series of 10 discs of 48 film scores by Toru Takemitsu, a world-class composer who transcended the boundaries of contemporary music and took on a variety of experimental-oriented composers, film music, and even songs. This album includes music from three films directed by Masaki Kobayashi in the 1960s. A1 "Kwaidan" is one of the masterpieces of Japanese electronic music, fully utilizing the music concrete and tape editing techniques that Takemitsu was actively working on at the time. B1, “Rebellion” like "November Steps," features shakuhachi by Katsuya Yokoyama and biwa by Nishiki Tsuruta, as well as 17 strings and Japanese drums, and effectively uses a variety of techniques, including overdub ideas and reverse. B2 “Harakiri” is a concrete piece that uses electronic modulation and tape manipulation on Western instruments such as flute and contrabass. This is a masterpiece of the experimental and avant-garde techniques of the 60's in Japan.

A1: 怪談(Kwaidan)
B1: 上意討ち(Rebellion)
B2: 切腹(Harakiri)
