A very rare record has arrived. This album was produced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries-affiliated National Land Greening Promotion Committee (now known as the National Land Greening Promotion Organization), established in 1950. It features compositions by Toshio Mayuzumi, a renowned Japanese composer and contemporary musician who introduced musique concrète, electronic music, and avant-garde music to Japan in the early 1950s. The album showcases his composition, performed by Morimasa, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, and the Tokyo Mixed Chorus, with the premiere broadcast taking place on May 2, 1968, on NHK. This composition is based on four short poems from the Manyoshu (Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves) arranged in the order of the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. It's a cantata with lyrics and orchestration, resonating with beautiful melodies and harmonies in the midst of the forest. On the B-side, you'll find Dmitri Shostakovich's oratorio "Song of the Forest" from the Soviet era.

A: 黛敏郎 “万葉集による交声曲<杜>”
B: Dmitri Shostakovich “森の歌”
