This 1979 leader album by Japanese pianist Tsuyoshi Yamamoto was released after his professional debut at the age of 19 in 1967 and his first album "Midnight Sugar" from Three Blind Mice in 1974. The album features a collaboration with American bassist Ray Brown, who played alongside Oscar Peterson from 1951 for many years and was a founding member of the Modern Jazz Quartet in 1952 with Milt Jackson and Percy Heath. The album includes performances by a trio/quartet with Donald Bailey (ds) and Kounosuke Saijyo (ts). It contains standard numbers by Duke Ellington and Cole Porter, as well as original compositions by Yamamoto and Brown. Brown's bass solos are a must-listen, as he weaves lyrical melodies with a rich tone. Yamamoto's piano combinations are also exceptional. This is an original pressing.
