This album, released in 1979, is by UMO The New Music Orchestra, a big band formed by Heikki Sarmanto, one of Finland's leading composers and jazz musicians, and conductor Esko Linnavalli. It features guest artists Clark Terry (flugelhorn, trumpet) and Jerry Dodgion (alto saxophone, soprano saxophone), along with 17 renowned Finnish jazz musicians, including Juhani Aaltonen (alto saxophone, soprano saxophone, flute, clarinet) and Pekka Pohjola (bass). The album showcases a rich, luxurious ensemble with original scores, jazz arrangements of traditional Finnish folk music, and jazz-funk. Highly recommended.
