An album released as part of the Unesco Collection, a series of traditional music from around the world initiated in 1961 through the collaboration of ethnomusicologist Alain Daniélou and the International Music Council. This is the fourth volume in the An Anthology of North Indian Classical Music series, which consists of five releases in total. It features performances of North Indian classical music using instruments such as the sarod—with its deep, resonant tone contrasting the sitar—the shehnai, a double-reed instrument with a sound similar to the Western shawm and featuring a wooden tube and metal bell, as well as the tabla, dilruba, and flute.
