Released in 1982 as part of the "Ethnic Music Series," supervised by the great ethnomusicologist Fumio Koizumi and world music pioneer Toyo Nakamura, this is a field recording of oriental dance music from Istanbul and Ankara, Turkey. This album features the energetic sounds of representative dance music from the Muslim world, including the 12-minute Arabic dance A1, the Darbukka solo A2, and the 14-minute B1 of dance music from Syria, Anatolia, and Istanbul.
