Diatone (Japan) 1980
DIA-009 (Mini-LP) 45rpm. w/obi, insert.
sleeve : EX-(light wear on corner, some light dirts.)
media : EX+/EX+(some slightly noise.)
This compilation album was released in 1980 on the label of Mitsubishi Electric’s audio brand Diatone. Produced as a promotional, non-commercial record to advertise the company’s then-new line of speakers, it features heavyweight vinyl mastered at 76 cm/sec and cut at 45 RPM. Side A includes two tracks taken from Tanabata Densetsu, the 1980 debut album by Group Dada, an oriental fusion unit featuring traditional Japanese musicians such as Naritoshi Tosha alongside session players. A1 is a percussive oriental fusion piece that could be described as a Japanese counterpart to Dinosaur L’s “Go Bang.” Compared to the original LP, the sound quality here is vastly superior, with the tones of traditional instruments and electric piano rendered with striking power and vivid presence. Side B offers equally impressive material, featuring tracks by Japan’s leading jazz singer Martha Miyake (who also recorded for Three Blind Mice), the Izuru Sera Trio, and Naochika Misago & the Tokyo Cuban Boys.
A1: ぐるーぷ だだ “静寂〜ふたつの星”
A2: ぐるーぷ だだ “天空〜ふたつの星”
B3: 見砂直照と東京キューバン・ボーイズ “コパカバーナ”
