A very obscurerecord has arrived. This compilation album was produced in conjunction with the Ancient Egypt Exhibition held in 1983 at the Seibu Museum, located on the 8th floor of Seibu Department Store in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. The album includes eight valuable mono tracks selected from SP records left behind by labels such as Odeon, Philips, and Cairophon. These include a recording from the early days of Om Kalsoum, said to be the greatest Arab singer (Track A1), a song by the Egyptian singer Mohamed Fawzy, who was active in the 1940s and 50s (Track A3), a track by the Syrian singer Aiham Rifqi, who was active in the 1940s (Track B1), and a track by Ahmed Sherif, a singer from Somalia, an Islamic country located east of Ethiopia (Track B2). Since these recordings were made from SP records, the original background noise is present.
