Since its founding in 1977, the legendary Better Days label has not only been a driving force in the Japanese jazz fusion scene, but has also released a great deal of avant-garde music that was far ahead of its time and groove tunes that have yet to fade away. In 2016, the label released two new compilation albums at the same time, unraveling the history of the label and its vast archive of overwhelming quality with a new interpretation from a perspective that has passed through club music. This album, titled "Funky & Mellow," is a compilation of the finest groove tunes by artists in the jazz field, such as Arakawa Band, Tamami Koyake, Eri Ohno, Kazumi Watanabe, Keiko Amae, Mikio Masuda, etc. This was released from collaborative project between HMV record shop and Organic Music, "JAPANISM".
