In 1959, Wayne Shorter joined Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and emerged as one of Miles Davis' best-known musicians, and has since worked as one arm of Miles Davis and in progressive fusion groups such as Weather Report, where he has demonstrated his talents to great effect. He released this album in 1969. It featured Chick Corea, Airto Moreira, Jack DeJohnette, John McLaughlin, Miloslav Vitous and Sonny Sharrock. The highlights of the album are A2 and A3, which incorporate elements of Brazilian music in a big way. Three years ahead of Chick Corea's Return to Forever, this is a historically important work that paved the way for the future of crossover jazz. A must for lovers of Brazilian music such as Egberto Gismonti and Milton Nascimento. This is a reissue US edition, released in 1973.
