This is a masterpiece album released in 1984 by the American trumpeter Woody Shaw, who participated in sessions with numerous groups such as Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, the Horace Silver Quintet, and the Joe Henderson Quintet, and also left many masterpieces with his own group. Featuring a lineup of stellar players such as Azar Lawrence (ts, ss), Steve Turre (tb), Onaje Allen Gumbs (p), Cecil McBee (b), Victor Lewis (ds), Tony Waters (per), and Guilherme Franco (per), this studio recording was made in New York in 1974. Only on tracks A1 and A2, Buster Williams (b) participates. From intensely blowing hard bop to melodious Latin jazz, it showcases an emotional spiritual jazz with a focus on ensemble, while also having a crossover feel. Shaw's trumpet playing is exceptionally colorful and superb. Highly recommended album. This is a promotional copy of Japanese reissure in 1977
