Keiko Nosaka, who invented the 20-stringed koto, has given hundreds of lectures both in Japan and abroad, and in 2002 assumed the name of Nosaka Sohju II. She has sublimated traditional Japanese music not only in the classical field, but also in the field of contemporary music. This album, released in 1981, features works by J.S. Bach, Shin'ichiro Ikebe, Minoru Miki, and Neil McKay, with Nosaka performing solo on the 20-stringed koto and duo with shakuhachi player Seizan Sakata. B3 is an arrangement of an English folk song by Minoru Miki and Nosaka, a masterpiece of contemporary Japanese music that incorporates extremely innovative ideas and techniques in the classical Japanese style. This work is also highly regarded as post-ambient music.
