A very interesting self-produced record has just arrived. It was composed by Kenzo Egashira, a lecturer at a music college, and sung by Motoko Matsushima, a soprano singer. The A-side, "Dream Woman," was composed by Egashira for a recital in the fall of 1973, based on a folk tale handed down in the Hiroshima area, and has a special structure with songs and narratives on top of piano and flute accompaniment. The performance is more like contemporary music, and the songs sometimes have a Meredeth Monk-like expression. The narration is in the dialect of the Hiroshima area, and is very interesting. The B-side, "Twelve Months of Love Songs," contains 12 songs written by Egashira in the past.
