An album released in 1979 by Paul Humphrey, one of the most important drummers in the U.S. jazz-funk scene. Since the 1960s, he had been active in groups led by Les McCann and Monty Alexander, and went on to showcase his skills in numerous sessions, including participation in Afrique’s Soul Makossa in the 1970s. This masterpiece includes a number of funky tracks created using synthesizers together with Anthony (Tony) Drake, such as track A4 — a jazz-funk tune where low-slung four-beat drums lock in with guitar and synth. The title track A1, where drums and percussion erupt in full force, is a standout.
A1: Me And My Drums
A4: Scream & Shout
B2: Uncle Nate Dream
