Featured in the guidebook OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION, this is the first solo album by Swedish jazz guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Thomas Almqvist, released in 1979. A sophisticated Brazilian jazz track like A3 showcases percussive rhythms that groove lightly, over which wet, melancholic electric piano and moody horns float. Track B1 features a wetly resonant tabla rhythm interwoven with primitive xylophone arpeggios and flowing, exotic acoustic guitar melodies—an ethnic jazz piece rich in texture. The album as a whole unfolds a peaceful and natural sound, ranging from folkloric ethno-jazz infused with various world music elements to lyrical New Age tracks that blend seamlessly into the natural world. It is regarded as one of the finest examples of Nordic ethnic jazz.
