This is a leader album released in 1978 by American bassist Clint Houston, who participated in the acclaimed albums of Woody Shaw, Roy Ayers, Weldon Irvine, Joe Bonner, and others. It was recorded in New York in the same year with a quintet featuring Joanne Brackeen (piano), Onaje Allan Gumbs (piano), John Abercromie (guitar), and Al Foster (drums) for a Japan-exclusive release. The album unfolds with A1, transitioning from profound bass solos to uplifting developments with a Brazilian taste. A2 showcases a wonderful combination of gentle bossa rhythms and piano. In B3, a duet with Brackeen, they emotionally perform Dizzy Gillespie's classic, demonstrating the album's elegant and deep spirituality, reminiscent of ECM productions. Highly recommended.
