A Danish group led by saxophonist Ole Luhl, who also participated in John Tchicai's 1969 masterpiece Afrodisiaca, Natdamperen released their first album in 1975 on an independent label. The band featured Ole Nordenhof (p), Jan Ole Kristensen (g), Jorgen Nielsen (b), Ed Jones (ds), and Flemming Quist Moller (per). This hidden gem showcases an irresistibly cool and smoky groove, blending soul jazz and jazz funk with elements of blues rock and psychedelic rock—reminiscent of German acts like Embryo and Sweet Smoke. Highly recommended.
