Carla Bley, an American female pianist/composer who founded the Jazz Composers Orchestra Asociation with her husband Michael Mantler and made significant contributions to the jazz world, including the protection of musicians from commercialism, released this album in 1984. The album features Michal Mantler, Steve Slagle, Steve Swallow, Earl McIntyre, and other musicians who are well known to her, as well as up-and-coming musicians. The album is a crossover jazz album that incorporates the urban sensibility of the 80's, but it also has Carl Bley's characteristic languor, which can be heard on "Dinner Music" and other albums.
