PPM Band
Running Throuh / Step by Step
Playbones Musik (Germany) 1989
PBMS 8 (12”)
sleeve : M

This is the only 12-inch single released in 1989 by the mysterious group PPM Band, which was active in Germany in the late 1980s. Apart from Wolfgang Reiss, a member who was a central figure in the experimental jazz group Flagranti and left behind one album in 1985, there is little other documented activity from the group. However, they collaborated with Ton Studio Bauer in Ludwigsburg, globally known for recording ECM albums, with Bauer also handling production for this single, which was recorded at the same studio. The single features a progressive disco-rock vibe with a flamboyant crossover feel, combining powerful drums, wailing guitars, and high-energy synths. It's quite a unique blend. The A-side is interesting to listen to at 33 RPM, offering a different experience. The B-side leans more towards disco fusion kind likes Shakatak and Kasso, but it also works well at 33 RPM.
