The Australian ethno-jazz quartet The Galapagos Duck released this album in 1976, following their introduction of the 1974 album 'Ebony Quill' in the first edition of the guidebook 'Obscure Sound.' This work features a collaboration with Don Burrows, a prominent flutist in the Australian jazz scene. The album showcases their unique crossover jazz, blending various styles with their original sensibility. Highlights include the jazz-funk tune on track A1, which arranges a traditional song into a narrative-driven composition, and track B6, where the flute's psychedelic sound, seemingly processed through a ring modulator, stands out. Their music incorporates elements of early jazz, Brazilian, and funk, reminiscent of the grooves found in Bjorn J:Son Lindh's work. Highly recommended.

A1: St. James Infirmary
B6: Squeezes and Grunters
