This is the only album released by the group "Up," led by the German jazz violinist/composer Jorg Widmoser, with Harald Ruschenbaum on drums, Peter Wolpl on guitar, Peter Christl on bass, and Alfred Mehnert on percussion. The album was released in 1986 on a Munich-based independent label. The Brazilian crossover A1 track features a delightful blend of lively samba rhythms and the graceful melodies of the electric violin. The album also includes B1, a beautiful bossa fusion piece with open drumming, gentle interplay between violin and guitar, and a gorgeous bass solo in the middle section. The sophisticated arrangements reminiscent of Pat Metheny, coupled with a bright crossover jazz sound, make this album a standout with its refined and transparent qualities.
A1: Sea, Sand and Sun
B1: Whispering
