The group White Orange, composed of eight jazz musicians from five countries, including Tim Hagans (trumpet, flugelhorn) and Hector Bingert (tenor sax, soprano sax, flute), released their debut album in 1980 on the Swedish label Caprice. Highlights include the breezy samba rhythms, cool horn section, and dazzling violin and piano on the Brazilian crossover track A3, as well as the jazz-funk piece B1, featuring percussion-driven funk beats, thrilling horn arrangements, and light, agile guitar work. The album offers a sophisticated and refreshing jazz groove throughout, making it a standout work.
