This is the 1970 leader album by the highly skilled Czech jazz bassist Miroslav Vitous, who later joined Weather Report. It's a quintet project featuring an incredible lineup with Joe Henderson (tenor sax), John McLaughlin (guitar), Herbie Hancock (piano), and Jack DeJohnette (drums). The album, released in Japan in 1972, showcases a super-aggressive rhythm section by Vitous and DeJohnette, complemented by McLaughlin's psychedelic guitar and Hancock's deep piano. The album is filled with remarkable performances, including a mind-blowing cover of Eddie Harris's masterpiece (A1), where the combination of Vitous and DeJohnette's aggressive rhythm, McLaughlin's psychedelic guitar, and Hancock's piano creates an intense experience. This work is an important piece that resonates with the new wave present in the series of post-electric Miles recordings.
